Welcome Letter from our New Baronesses of Endless Hills
To our most beloved Barony of Endless Hills,
We, Lady Revna Lunaris and Doña Kolfinna Jodisardottir, send greetings! We are so very excited to be working together for the good of our barony! While many of you are familiar with us, we would like to get to know everyone in our Barony better over the upcoming years. We want to serve to the best of our ability and continue to grow
our community in many ways.
A bit about us:
Lady Revna Lunaris has had the pleasure of serving Barony as deputy Chatelaine, head retainer, and Captain of Archers. She has been made an archery marshal and encourages members old and new to take up bows once more. In addition, Revna has been working as a Mistress of the List. She has a passion for the kitchen arts and can be found assisting the Feastocrat at as many events as she can!
Doña Kolfinna Jodisardottir has been in service to the Barony in the role of Captain of Rapier, and has been assisting as retainer for almost a decade at this point. Kolfinna currently serves as region 3 deputy signet for Kingdom and has had the distinction of becoming principal of the Iron Quill and one of the first recipients of the distinction for Caretakers. Kolfinna has served as royal retainer and guard for multiple reigns and as marshal for the Rapier field.
We believe with guidance of our friends out of Barony and the support of the Barony we can continue to fulfill the roles in a way that brings honor and growth to our most cherished Barony. We are firm supporters of all aspects of our Barony, be it Arts and Sciences or Marshal based. We are devoted to the service of Barony and the Kingdom in every form possible. We would welcome any and all to come visit us during any event to discuss ideas or suggestions for the Barony! We are also available online and at Baronial practices.

Crafting Corner: Scrolls
Scribal Arts in the SCA
By: Doña Kolfinna
No Æthelmearc court would be complete without the wonderful artwork and talented creativity of the Scribes of our Kingdom. Our Barony is home to a fair number of the Kingdom’s artists.
Scribal arts encompass many facets.
- Wordsmithing: putting together the information in beautiful phrases to make the award sing during court.
- Calligraphy: using many different period techniques to make the words beautiful on paper.
- Illumination: the fabulous designs emphasizing the award and giving it extra pizazz.
Scribes may do any part or all of them for a scroll. Some scribes only ever do words, while others may do calligraphy and illumination. A scroll can sometimes be a collaboration between 2 or 3 or even more individuals. Most of the artwork done in the Kingdom of Æthelmearc is created for each individual, unlike some kingdoms in which pre-made blanks are used. It gives the scribes of our kingdom a lot of freedom in design.
Scrolls are often ink and painted on Pergamena, bristol board, or vellum, though the options are endless. Bones, horns, wood, rock, and glass have all been done before. The words and art can be etched, burned or painted onto these alternative mediums. For as many artists as you speak to, you will get that many different paint and ink recommendations. For many, modern gouauche works well for the paper types of scrolls, though others will use “period pigments.” Paints and ink may be applied using a variety of instruments depending on the design and scribe’s preferences.
Getting started as a scribe can seem a daunting task but the scribal community is vast and most are very open about this aspect of our hobby. There are many facebook groups with links and advice for the new and experienced scribe alike.
Sample materials can be acquired via our Kingdom Signet, Mistress Roberta or her deputies. There is also a scribal tract of classes at Pennsic held in the Aethelmearc Kingdom every year with many aspects covered.
Anyone interested in learning more about scribal arts or trying their hand at this aspect of our hobby is welcome to reach out at any time. Please send an email to
region3signet@aethelmearc.org.

History – Endless Hills Awards
Our Barony of Endless Hills was born on January 24th Anno Societatis XXXII (1998). The first Baron of the Endless Hills, Tigranes of Bezabde was invested that day.
One right and duty of a Baron/ess is to create and bestow awards to the worthy citizens of the group they have been entrusted to look after. Baron Tigranes hit the ground running and did just that.
To uphold that tradition of giving awards to citizens of the barony deserving of them, please go HERE.

We all start somewhere. Do you remember your first auth, your first time throwing or shooting an arrow, how excited you were about your first bit of research. We have new members just starting their SCA journey and we would like to introduce them to you.
Our 2 new youth fencers, Sean and Tripp, are working hard to learn drills and get ready for the opportunity to get on the field.
We also have 2 newly authorized fighters Camkass in fencing and Michael in heavy.
If you see our new members doing awesome things let us know so we can give them a shout out!!

Past Meeting Minutes
Closing Chronicler Remarks
Hello Endless Hills from your chronicler Lady Matilda! Happy May. Hope all is well with you and your SCA journey this year is turning out to be the best one yet. If you haven’t accomplished your goals yet, no worries. You most definitely have time.
A moment I would like to share with you for this edition involves something we want to do, but most never get the time too.
Nominating Friends for Awards
I personally have not been able to nominate as much as I would like too. The time and effort to find the form necessary to make that recommendation is a lot. On top of
determining what each award is known for and if said person is worthy of it or not. Luckily, with the help of our webminster, Lady Birna, the barony has an award recommendation form now. Hopefully this clears up any confusion or stressful times worrying about the process of recommendation. Because it is super duper important to nominate your friends for not only baronial awards, but especially kingdom awards! Efforts need to be made known. Hard working individuals deserve to be recognized. If they don’t appreciate being the center of attention, other avenues are a possibility for them.
I for sure wish I could create a recommendation form for my personal life. Getting recognized for the efforts I do at my workplace would be nice. But at least we have the SCA to escape too. Thanks to all who helped me escape!
Upcoming Events for the Barony
Endless Hills Day of Tournaments – June 1st, 2025
The Seven Pearls event quickly approaches and Baroness Revna and I find ourselves in need of those worthy individuals to represent our talented populace! To find these nobles, we would have the Barony come together on June 1st, 2025, 105 Lake Catalpa Rd, Dallas, PA 18612, for a Day of Tournaments! Champions in all activities will be chosen!
We would like to start the day off at 9 a.m. and run until we finish all the tournaments. We would begin the day with thrown weapons and archery. We would have A&S set up and pickups for heavy and fencing during this time. We would then move onto judging A&S, followed by fencing then bardic, then heavy.
This is an open potluck, so please bring items with ingredients listed to share. We would also recommend bringing seating and potentially day shades if desired.
We will be passing the hat to offset the cost of the rental of the portajohn.
Please reach out to Kolfinna with any questions.
